Diverticulitis is inflammation of a diverticulum (protrusion of the inner intestinal lining through the outer lining to form a small pouch), aggravated by constipation. Symptoms include: pain, distended abdomen, irregular, pellet-like bowel movements and sometimes blood in the stool.
