Nutrient - Vitamin A

(Retinol)

By Nutri People

Retinol is found only in animal foods, but can be made from beta carotene in plant foods. It is an antioxidant, which protects against harmful excess free radicals. Retinol helps make healthy epithelium tissue, which is found in skin, glands and the linings of the respiratory, genito-urinary and gastro-intestinal systems. It is important for healthy eye function, night vision, immunity, skin, growth, reproduction and heart.

Vitamin A is added to skin creams and lotions as retinyl palmitate, made from retinol and palmitic acid (from palm oil). It supports healthy skin renewal and thickness; especially with problem skin; regulates pigmentation, gives antioxidant protection against harmful UV rays, supports collagen deposition and promotes soft, smooth, younger-looking skin.
