There are many species of eucalyptus or ‘fevertree’, which were widely used by Aboriginal people. The leaves of Eucalyptus globulus or ‘blue gum’ contain bioflavonoids and a cool, spicy scented essential oil, which contains an active ingredient called ‘eucalyptol’. Applied to skin, eucalyptus oil supports skin tone and helps stimulate blood flow, thereby promoting healthy veins and capillaries and a feeling of warmth to joints and muscles. Eucalyptus smithii has a lighter feel than Eucalyptus globule. Its main active ingredient is 1,8-cineole, which helps relax tired muscles.
