Flax seeds have a long history of use for bowel health. Flax seeds are rich in bulky dietary fibre and contain substances called ‘glycosides’, which help support regular bowel movement.
They also contain phytonutrient ‘lignans’; alpha-linolenic acid, an omega 3 essential fatty acid (EFA); linoleic acid, an omega 6 EFA; and omega 9 fatty acids. Flax seeds are an excellent natural source of lignans.
Sprouted Flax seeds are germinated Flax seeds. Germination changes the seeds’ nutrient composition, making them higher in enzymes, vitamins and amino acids, and lower in phytic acid and insoluble fibre, than ungerminated seeds.
