Silicon is found in all connective tissue. Skin, tendons, arteries, collagen, cartilage and the cornea and sclera (white) of the eye contain the largest amounts. It is important for strength and elasticity of cartilage and artery walls (thereby helping regulate blood pressure) and for strong, healthy bones, skin and hair. It exists in nature as silica (silicon oxide). Horsetail (Equisetum arvense) is an excellent natural source of silica.
